I LOVE THANKSGIVING!

I love the month of November because we get to celebrate Thanksgiving. It is my favorite holiday! Some find that kind of strange that I would be partial to Thanksgiving with all of the other fun holidays we get to celebrate. I love it not only because of all the great food and home baked pies that my Mom always did so well, but because we focus on gratitude! It's really hard to commercialize gratitude and I love that. I think we live in a time when so many are so selfish and so ungrateful for all that is good. I love traditions and one of ours is to share with each other what we are thankful for on Thanksgiving Day! I would love to hear some of your traditions, it's always fun to add new ones to our family.

Thanksgiving and football come hand in hand at my home... I am sure most families do the cliche going around the table and everyone saying what they are thankfull for moment before eating thanksgiving dinner, ya it may be corny, but I still enjoy hearing what others are thankful for. I also do not usually start my Christmas shopping till after thanksgiving, I am sure it would be easier to do it earlier but I love shopping with the christmas music on and decor up in the stores. Thanksgiving is a real kickoff to the whole giving season.

For the last two years we have done something fun. I make a giant tree out of brown butcher paper and tape it on the wall. Then I buy a ton of leaves at learning is fun. Every morning at breakfast everyone in the family says something that they are thankful for. We write it on the leaf and hang it up on the tree. They can't say anything that has been said before. At first it is very easy with typical answers such as mom, dad, church, ect. After a short while you have to put some thought into it. It is great to realize all the things that we have to be thankful for. It is really fun to watch the tree grow and grow. I also love to see what the kids come up with. Anyway, that is sort of a tradition. We are actually not doing it this year, but I have something fun in mind for Christmas!

Thanks for the comment and following my photography blog.
I love your blog! You are an awesome Mom/Grandma. I will definitely file away the idea of a newsletter to Grandkids every month. What an awesome gift for them to have. Your photos look amazing. It looks like we share a great passion for all things photography.

Hey Becky =)
One thing my family likes to do on Thanksgiving is play Nertz. It's a card game where everyone has their own deck of cards (they must all look different) and it is COMPLETE CHAOS but soooo much fun! We LOVED card games growing up! We'd also play board games but Nertz was the most common game.
